Lettuce Lollo Rossa is a very attractive continental red lettuce with crisp frilly leaves. It adds colour and vibrancy to the salad bowl and also looks great in the garden or in a pot on the patio.
Lettuce Lollo Rossa is a loose heart type that can be harvested as a whole head or a few leaves can be picked as & when needed & it will continue to produce new leaves for 2-3 months. It is a good variety to sow successionally every 2-3 weeks.
Lettuce Lollo Rossa is quick & easy to grow and as it can be expensive to buy in the supermarket it is cheaper & more rewarding to grow your own.

Prefers well drained, moist, rich soil. But grows and looks well in containers.

Sow thinly in pots or in a prepared bed in rows 25cm apart and lightly cover with fine soil. Seedlings appear 7-14 days. Thin to about 15cm apart when large enough. Water in carefully with a fine hose. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks.

Keep moist especially during dry weather, weed free and protect early sowings with a cloche. Always water in the morning or mid-day as watering in the evening will increase the risk of disease.
